Con la llegada de Moore asistimos al nacimiento de otro James Bond más refinado y sutil, quizá más acorde al descrito por Fleming, aunque con menos dosis de violencia y sadismo, consiguiendo que sus películas sean autorizadas para todos los públicos, frente a las de Connery que tuvieron problemas con la censura. Se buscó un tono más cercano al comic de aventuras con dosis de humor, sin renunciar a las chicas despampanantes o los villanos crueles, pero por debajo de los límites de las anteriores entregas de la serie.
