Además de su versatilidad como compositor de canciones o de bandas sonoras para el cine abarcando todos los estilos, es conocida su habilidad como orquestador y arreglador de temas y no he podido resistirme a incluir algunos de los que adaptó para películas como "SISTER ACT", o para su amiga Bette Midler en su último disco dedicado a las solistas femeninas de los años sesenta, titulado "It's the girls" que es toda una joya.
Las letras mayúsculas entre paréntesis después de cada canción corresponden a la inicial de los musicales a los que pertenecen (H-Hairspray, S-Smash, CMIYC-Catch me if you can, CATCF-Charlie.....) y cuando indica que el arreglo es de Marc Shaiman, es porque la canción no ha sido compuesta por él.
